Along with the continuous progress of machinery manufacturing in our country and growing demand for high workpiece surface quality of enterprises, the rapid development of various kinds of precision machining methods is promoted. As an important part of the free abrasive machining methods, Barrel finishing process has many attractive advantages, such as high efficiency, good processing quality, wide application and so on, so it is widely concerned by more and more scholars and researchers. According to the actual production and processing requirements of enterprises, vibration barrel finishing process is studied and discussed in this paper.Based on mechanism and characteristics of barrel finishing process, the vibration characteristics and the formation mechanism of the spiral motion of the grinding block are analyzed theoretically, the factors affecting the final grinding effect is discussed, among these factors, the grinding medium plays a decisive role in the process, so the selection of grinding medium is emphatically discussed. Based on theoretical analysis and processing requirements, Scheme design of vertical vibration barrel finishing form and tire drum structure is selected, and the tank of vibrating barrel finishing machine is calculated and designed, lining material and vibration motor's type, model, etc. are all selected reasonably, dynamic parameters calculation of single axis inertial exciter and a seismic isolation device is carried out; Based on the principle of electrical control and a reasonable choice of the main electrical components, a electrical system is designed, which can not only play the role of safety protection, but also can be reasonable and convenient to adjust the vibration parameters. In order to verify the design of vibrating barrel finishing machine can meet the design requirements, Workbench ANSYS soft is used to carry out modal analysis, Analysis results show that the gap between operating frequency and natural frequency of each order is very large, resonance phenomenon does not occur avoiding a serious damage to the tank wall; In order to improve the surface quality and service life of bearing parts, and further to verify the effect of vertical vibration barrel finishing process, polishing experiments on inner ring, outer ring and roller of bearing parts was carried out, the experimental results show that vibration barrel finishing process can effectively remove the workpiece surface rust, burrs and other defects, the workpiece surface roughness is reduced, the surface brightness is improved, so the purpose of improving workpiece surface quality of is achieved.
