In 1936, a patent on the barrel finishing process of vibration mechanism was first proposed in Germany.In 1960, patents for the horizontal and vertical vibration barrel finishing machine were put forward in the United States and the United Kingdom respectively.After decades of development,vibration barrel finishing technology has been widely used in medium or small parts of different materials for deburring, rounding and finishing.In the field of vibration barrel finishing,most of the machining mechanism is based on the model of vertical vibration barrel machine, understanding and research on horizontal vibration barrel finishing are relative lacking.Drawing lessons from research contents and methods of vertical vibration barrel finishing, the movement of abrasive、the impact of process parameters and equipment parameters on workpiece processing results are analyzed from the three aspects of abrasive 、workpiece and equipment for horizontal vibration barrel finishing process in thisarticle,the main research contents are as follows:1.For the presence of bump and low efficiency problem of large or special requirements of the workpiece in the horizontal vibration barrel finishing, a new processing scheme is put forward.2.The motion parameters of the vibration groove is determined by analyzing the movement of the horizontal vibration barrel machine.The motion of abrasive material is simulated to understand the form and state of motion for abrasive by means of discrete element software EDEM, Then the theoretical analysis of the abrasive motion conditions are carried out,and the experimental verification is carried out in the ZLC100 long slot type vibration finishing machine.3.The normal and tangential contact force for workpiece generated by abrasive are analyzed according to different rotation speed and depth of workpiece by means of discrete element software EDEM, then the stress of workpiece at different machining depth is tested by sensor.Finally, the experimental results of different processing depth for the workpiece are verified,the relationship between the processing time and the processing effect of workpiece is explored,influence of process parameters on the machining effect of workpiece is determined.4.The mechanical model of horizontal vibration barrel finishing machine is established and analysed, the influence of the eccentric position and angle on excitation force and torque is researched, in the light of different shape of thebottom shape of vibrating trough can cause the number of the same diameter of abrasive arranged at the bottom,the conjecture that the bottom shape of vibrating trough will affect the transmission efficiency of the abrasive movement is put forward,the three-dimensional discrete element software EDEM is used to analyse the processing energy and velocity of single abrasive in processing,the tangential and normal contact force on the workpiece generated by abrasive at different vibration frequency.Experiments are carried out to verify the processing effect of workpiece under different vibration frequency of the vibrating trough.The theoretical analysis of movement for vibration body and abrasive in the horizontal vibration barrel finishing processing are carried out, the three-dimensional discrete element software EDEM is applied to quantitative analysis for the motion of abrasive, the force on the workpiece generated by abrasive. the influence of the process parameters and equipment parameters on machining effect is studied to guide the actual processing.
