In the present, waterborne anticorrosion coating is becoming more and more popular as the result of the increasing requirement on environmental protection. Due to its advantages in weathering resistance, heat resistance and low cost, waterborne acrylic system has become one of the most widely used waterborne anticorrosion paint systems.In this dissertation, acrylic polymer latex synthesized from a diacetone acrylamide (DAAM)-adipic dihydrazide (ADH) dual-component self-crosslinking system was designed and tested. High glossiness waterborne acrylic anticorrosion top paint for aluminum alloy was prepared based on the latex. In addition, acrylic polymer latex synthesized from a glycidyl methacrylate (GMA)-methacrylic acid (MAA) self-crosslinking system was also designed and tested. Waterborne acrylic anticorrosion primer for steel was prepared based on the latex.The main contents of this dissertation are as follows:1. Synthesis and properties of waterborne acrylic polymer emulsionEmulsion polymerization was taken as the polymerization method with butyl methacrylate (BA) and methyl methacrylate (MMA) as the primary monomers. Various of waterborne acrylic polymer latex were designed and synthesized by adopting DAAM-ADH and GMA-MMA self-crosslinking systems. Polymer latex with high consistency and low water absorption (<3%) was synthesized by optimizing the formulation.2. Preparation of anticorrosion top paint for aluminum alloyIn order to meet the high glossiness demand of anticorrosion top paint, DAAM-ADH dual-component self-crosslinking acrylic polymer latex was designed and synthesized. The pigment, solid content, and functional monomer of the formulation were optimized through characterizing the properties (glossiness, electrochemical property, flexibility, shock resistance, etc.) of the paint film. High-glossiness (64.9°) anticorrosion top paint for aluminum alloy with excellent anticorrosion performance was prepared, which resisted neutral salt fog for over 1000h.3. Study on anticorrosion primer for steelTo fulfill the need of anticorrosion primer for high barrier, GMA-MMA self-crosslinking acrylic polymer latex was designed and synthesized.. Effects of monomer ratio, catalyst, and curing condition on anticorrosion property were studied. Through characterizing the properties (electrochemical property, flexibility, shock resistance, etc.) of the primer film. The optimal performance of primer was achieved when 1% tetramethyl ammonium hydroxide was added and curing process was carried out at 100? for 45 minutes. Thus the optimal formulation of anticorrosion primer for steel was confirmed.
