Methane was an important clean energy and had wide application value. Hydrogen had an irreplaceable role in metallurgy, coal chemical industry and other industries. Coke oven gas contained rich methane and hydrogen, and the extraction of methane and hydrogen was an important way for high value use of coke oven gas. It could reduce gas pollution, coal consumption and oil imports, and have important market values.After systematical literature review, based on the study of the characteristics of the coke oven gas generated from coal application process of Risun company, a technical scheme of methane/hydrogen extraction from coke oven gas was selected, and the related suitable operation conditions was also be choosed. Based on these information, we took 4×104Nm3/h coke oven gas as a special case, designed and improved the technology of methane and hydrogen extraction process, and built up the production flowsheet which contains gas pretreatment, compression, conversion, pressure swing adsorption and other processes. The final operation results showed that the quality of SNG is satisfied and the purity of H2may be more than 99.9% which can be meet the need of technology design. A excellent economic benefits for the company was obtained.
