In this paper,APMP pulp fiber was used to make cationic pulp fiber by introducing the cationic group to the cellulose macromolecule skeleton in two different grafting reactions.The effects of the reaction conditions on the characteristics of the graft modification and graft copolymers(modified fiber)were studied,respectively.In the research,CHPTAC and DMC were used the cationic monomer reacted with the pulp fiber to form cationic pulp fiber and optimized the reaction conditions of the preparation the cationic pulp fibers.The cationic pulp fibers were analyzed by means of elemental analysis,Fourier transforms infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),thermal gravity analysis(TGA),and scanning electron micrographs(SEM).Furthermore the cleanup effect of two different cationic pulp fibers on acid blue was studied and the effects of cationic pulp fiber amount,reaction time,setting time,pH,reaction temperature.The preparation of cationic pulp fiber by graft modification indicated that the optimal reaction conditions: CHPTAC 20%(oven dry pulp),NaOH 6% 40oC,2 h and the pulp concentration 8%.Under this condition the content of nitrogen and the pulp surface charge density were 1.015% and 1.68 mmol/g.On the basis of the cationic pulp fiber characterization by grafting copolymer,the opium conditions were follows: amount of the initiator 10%(oven dry fiber),reactive temperature 50 oC,the total amount of monomer twice for the quality of the sample,mass ratio of DMC to AM 25%,and the pulp concentration 8%.Under the condition the content of nitrogen and the pulp surface charge density were 1.415% and 2.4 mmol/g.The analysis results of FTIR,TGA,ESEM indicated that CHPTAC and DMC was reacted with the APMP fibers.In other words,the cationic mummers were grafting to the surface of the pulp fibers,successfully.The application of the cationic pulp fiber including graft modification cationic pulp fiber and the grafting copolymer cationic pulp fiber as a flocculent to decolorize the simulated acide blue 3 wastewater was evaluated,respectively.The results confirmed that,by having 0.14 g cationic pulp fiber concentration in the dye solution with the concentration of 100 mg/L,94% and 98% of dye could be removed under the follows conditions: the graft modification cationic pulp fiber and the grafting copolymer cationic pulp amount of 0.14 g,the reaction time were 15 min and 20 min respectively,the setting time were 20 min and 40 min,the reaction temperature were 20 oC,and the pH were 2~12 and 8.
