This paper using sodium alginate, cuttlebone and hairyvein agrimony as raw materials, adding a certain amount polyvinyl alcohol, compounds spinning solution and prepares the modified(blend) alginate fiber by wet spinning technology.Firstly, the raw materials were preliminary studyed and were processed properly. The sodium alginate solution was prepared and the viscosity was tested. The cuttlebone micro powder was prepared. The herba agrimoniae was dissolved and was filtered. The polyvinyl alcohol solution was prepared. The experiment shows that the viscosity of sodium alginate solution decreases with the decrease of the concentration and the increase of the temperature in a certain range of conditions. The particle size of the cuttlebone powder decreased greatly and the agglomeration state was reduced obvious by treatment of grinding and oscillation. The extract of herba agrimoniae is brown and is easily soluble in water.Secondly, the suitable concentration of the spinning solution was confirmed and its viscosity was tested. The membrane was produced. The surface morphology of the membrane was observed and the liquid absorption of the membrane was tested. It is showed that Compared with cuttlebone and herba agrimoniae, sodium alginate and polyvinyl alcohol have great influence on the viscosity of blended solution and the liquid absorbent of membrane. Both the viscosity of blended solution and the liquid absorbent of membrane increased with the raised concentrations of sodium alginate and polyvinyl alcohol. The cuttlebone powder is dispersed in the membrane and is clearly visible under the microscope. Then, the content of each component in the spinning solution was determined. The mass fraction of sodium alginate, cuttlebone, herba agrimoniae, polyvinyl alcohol were2.4%, 0.3%, 0.3%, 1%. Five groups of fiber samples were prepared. The surface morphology of the fibers and the infrared spectra was observed. Their mechanical properties,pH of aqueous solution and dissolved substances were tested. It is showed that the cuttlebone powder is dispersed in the fiber and is clearly visible under the microscope. The herba agrimoniae and polyvinyl alcohol can not be observed in the microscope, which shows that both of them are compatible with fiber. Polyvinyl alcohol can improve the mechanical properties of the fiber, but it will cause the increase of the fiber irregularity and the reduce of the fiber uniformity. Adding herba agrimoniae and cuttlebone powder will reduce the mechanical properties of fiber. PH of five groups of fibers in aqueous solution is about 6.8 or 6.9 and is close to 7. The amount of water soluble matters of the sample V is the maximum. It is up to 0.41% and is still less than0.5%. The infrared spectra of the five groups were not much different, which indicated that fibers basically maintained the original structure characteristicsFinally, the non-woven fabrics were made by these fibers and some performance was tested such as the material liquid absorbent, blood clotting index, hemolysis rate, antibacterial and combustion. It is showed that polyvinyl alcohol, cuttlebone and herba agrimoniae can increase the liquid absorption capacity and decrease the blood clotting index in different extent. But it maybe increase the hemolytic and make the combustion performance change obviously. The liquid absorption capacity of the sample V is the strongest and can reach 14.08g/g.The blood clotting index of five groups of fiber materials from high to low is I,II,III,IV,V. The coagulation effect becomes better. The blood clotting index of the sample V is 25.65. The hemolytic rate of five groups of fiber materials from low to high is I,V,IV,III,?.The hemolysis rate of the sample V is the highest. It reaches 4.15% and is still less than 5% in accordance with the relevant requirements.Polyvinyl alcohol will aggravate the burning of the material. On the contrary, cuttlebone can increase the flame retardant ability of fibers. Herba agrimoniae is not significant to combustion performance of fiber material. The sample V has good antimicrobial property. The antibacterial rate of Staphylococcus aureus is 87.5% and the antibacterial rate of Candida albicans was 88.8%.
