Since reactive dyes advent, it has rapid bacome the main dyestuffs for cellulose dyeing, depending on its excellent dyeing properties. Reactive dyes are also the main dyestuffs for cotton package dyeing. In the process of cotton packeage dyed with reactive dyes, lost of dyeing effluents are produced and hard to treat due to the presence of hydrolyzed and vast usage of neutral electrolyte, which is used to increace the adsorbability of reactive dye. The approach of dyeing in organic solvents is a mew dyeing technology without any dyeing wastwater produced. In this study, the process of cotton pakage dyed with monochorotriazine dyes in organic solvents was investigated.A mixture of DMSO(dimethyl sulfoxide) and DMC(dimethyl carbonate) was chosen to replace water as dyeing medium. According to the feature of cotton package dyeing in organic solvents, a redesign package was manufactured for investigating the process of cotton package deyed with reactive dyes in organic solvents. Selecting C.I.Reactive Red 24 for subsequent dyeing reasech, investigate effect of the volume fraction of DMC and dyeing time on dye-uptake rate and fixation rate, compare with conventional aqueous dyeing. Test the levelness and colour fastness of dyed yarn. Analysis the chemical structure of Reactive Red 24 in each dyeing stage by HPLC. Recycle organic solvents in recovery device and compare the dyeing result in recycle solvents with the dyeing result in fresh solvents. The research result show that the best ration of DMSO/DMC was 1:9 and dyeing time was 2h. The dye up-take rate and fastness rate of solvent dyeing were much lager than aqueous dyeing. The color difference(CMCΔE) between three layers of single cotton package and between three cotton package from the same kier were both less than 1. The value of washing fastness and dry crock fastness were 5 and the value of wet crock fastness was 4. The result of HPLC analysis show that all the dyeing stage were free of hydrolyzed dyes. The result of cotton packge dyed in recycle solvents was same as the result dyed in fresh solvents. Keeping other conditions, excellent dyeing result was achieved, when cotton package dyed with Reaction Orange 5 and Reactive Blue 14.In this study, the feasbility of replacing DMSO/DMC system by DMSO/Diglyme system and DMSO/ diphenyl oxide system for cotton package dyeing was also investigated. First, compareing the results of small cotton fabric dyed in the three dyeing system, it was preliminarily confirmed that the substituted systems were available. Then, compareing the results of cotton package dyed in the three dyeing system, it was further confirmed that the substituted systems were available. The result show that the results of small cotton fabric dyed in DMSO/Diglyme(DMSO/Diglyme=1:9) system and DMSO/ diphenyl oxide(DMSO/ diphenyl oxide=2:8) system were similarity to the result of dyed in DMSO/DMC system. The results of cotton package dyed in DMSO/Diglyme(DMSO/Diglyme=1:9.5) system and DMSO/ diphenyl oxide(DMSO/ diphenyl oxide=1:9) system were also similarity to the result of dyed in DMSO/DMC system. At last, a redesign air flow dyeing machine was manufactured based on the research of cotton package dyed in solvents. The machine could contain 50 kg cotton fabric for further scale-up research of solvent dyeing.
