The Steel industry in China has been in the period of over producing. 56% of industries in china has been unprofitable by 2015. At present, the mean research direction of each firm has already been chasing high value-added steel products gradually. With the remarkable economic benefit, silicon steel, as a new product,has been mainly studied by steel enterprise. But only with more rigorous process conditions and rolling precision requirements, these new products can be rolled out.Among these process condition requirements, entering temperature of billet should be ensured firstly. The most effective ways is building holding furnace,building holding furnace comes to be the essential step for adjusting product structure. With the increase of production capacity,by considering the insurance of loading capacity each time and rolling rhythm, holding furnace should be bigger, with the limit of furnace cover size. Here comes the study of large holding furnace cover.This paper, taking the chance of rebuilding heat preservation pit by Hot Rolled Strip Steel Mill of An Steel Co. Ltd, studies the method of rebuilding holding furnace in terms of real working circumstances with testing and analyzing the unsolved problems.First, the design of holding furnace cover has been settled by ensuring its opening ways, meanwhile, optimized and summarized the Installation method of steel long span structure. I also analyze to make sure whether the structural strength of furnace cover is reasonable through establishing a simple mechanical model.And the correctness of results is proved by ANSYS finite element analysis. The reliability of bolts between connecting beams is ensured by calculating strength of each bolt. By analyzing the factors of keeping furnace cover warm, to find the reason of lead to different temperature in the heat preservation cover.main effect problem of keeping warm has been solved with selecting and installing fireproofing.To solve shape changing of pathway in high heat condition, the pathway has been redesigned, then the new pathway contracture has been checked, and the cooling effect has been verified by calculating heat release.
