For China taking the design of heavy load,high-speed,and dense on the railway,the operating conditions of the heavy rail become more severe,thus the specifications and quality of the heavy rail are strictly required.A steel plant must produce high quality of heavy rails in order to meet the requirement of Railway Bureau,in view of the production process,production equipment,and production technology,so universal rolling technology is used to produce heavy rails.Universal rolling technology not only can enhance the accuracy of rolling products,but also can enhance the strength of rolling products.In the rolling of heavy rails,the most important problem is how to control the precision of rolling.Through the simulation of the rolling process,deformation law can be analyzed,so as to understand and apply the key technology of rolling as soon as possible.Furthermore,the accuracy of the product can be improved.The finite element analysis technique can simulate and display the changes in the whole process of rolling technology,which make it easy for people to predict the final results of the technology,then the process plan can be further adjusted.By the way,the manpower and the resources can be saved.Therefore,the finite element analysis technique is an important tool to analyze the forming process of the heavy rail.This paper first introduces the composition and the development of the universal mill,and the research status at home and abroad.Compared with the traditional production process of the heavy rail,modern production process can better meet the requirements of high quality production,so a steel plant uses universal mill to produce heavy rails.Secondly,based on the elastic-plastic finite element theory,simplified the boundary conditions of the rolling process reasonably,a three-dimensional geometric models of two-roll cogging,two-roll roughing,universal finishing rolling process are built.Finally,by using ANSYS/LS-DYNA software,the process of rolling is simulated and analyzed.By studying the deformation law of the rolled piece in the rolling process,references are provided for further processes,and thus the production requirements are further improved.By comparing with the rolling force in the actual production of a steelplant,the error is very small,which verifies the feasibility and accuracy of the simulation.
