"High-speed, heavy-duty, long-Length" is the general trend of the railway development, producing high precision heavy rail has become an inevitable.This article introduces the status quo at home and abroad for the universal tandem rolling process of heavy rail and the significance of developing high precision heavy rail. Through the comparative study of the traditional production methods and universal rolling technology, it discusses some primary problems in rolling high-quality heavy rail and elaborates the advantages of the heavy rail universal rolling technology.By means of the analysis of the pass chart, the actual steel-like and the rolling process, combining metal rolling deformation theory with manufacturing technique, the technology and deforming for the universal tandem rolling process of heavy rail is researched, and moreover, the deformation characteristics of three heavy rail rack universal mill unit UR, ER / EF and UF are focused on analysis. In accordance with its deformation characteristics, the calculation models of the deformation and the force and energy parameters are established, simultaneously, the rolling force model, torque model and deformation model, which calculates the press and the spread of the head, waist and bottom, is established in the universal tandem rolling process of heavy rail. The computer simulation system for the universal tandem rolling process of heavy rail is developed by using Visual Basic, and achieves simulation of some process parameters such as deformation parameters, adjustment parameters, temperature and quality control parameters in the rolling process, it accurately simulates the variation tendency of the process parameters, changes in cross-sectional area, the rolling force and torque, and intuitively displays the changes in various parameters in the heavy rail rolling process.The result shows: The mathematical model of the heavy rail universal tandem rolling process could accurately calculate the deformation of the workpiece in pass. in the base of the established mathematical model, the simulation and calculation is carried on by using the computer simulation system for the universal tandem rolling process of heavy rail, the simulated value is quite close to the design value, which reflects the variation tendency of the width of the rail head and bottom, and effectively simulates the deformation characteristics of heavy rail. Taking into account of The actual production of the scene, the parameters modify module has been added in the development process ,it can achieve pre-production simulation, and provides the theoretical basis for Process operation and quality control for the production and debugging in production lines.
