Reducing the weight of material and improving the properties of material are always the goals of the industry. Rubber foam material has excellent chemical stability, good electrical insulation properties, aging resistance and water resistance, widely used in sporting goods, all kinds of construction and refrigeration, air conditioning, auto parts, medical, and military equipment. But now, because of the production technology of rubber foam is ahead of the basic research, the production technology of foaming rubber material mostly rely on experience and a large number of experiments to formulate the formulations and processes. In this paper, the foamed materials were prepared by compression molding on plate vulcanizing press tools, and were studied the role of weight of sample, temperature, vulcanization accelerator system, foam systems, carbon black and paraffin oil for the EPDM rubber foam material such as curing behavior, blowing behavior, density, mechanical properties and microstructure, etc, then, further research on the effect of composite foaming agent system in the preparation process of the ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) foaming material, and then further to study the effects of azodicarbonamide (AC) and 4,4'-diphenyl-oxo-sulfonyl hydrazide (OBSH) composite foaming agent in the system preparation of EPDM rubber foam material.Finally, summary the experiments, when under the conditions of the weight of sample (3.5 g), a temperature of 175 ?,0.75 parts of sulfur,0.75 parts of N-cyclohexyl-2-benzothiazole sulfenamide (accelerator CZ),0.75 parts of dibutyl dithiocarbamate (accelerator BZ) vulcanization accelerator system, and 5 parts by 1:1 mass ratio of AC foaming agent and OBSH foaming agent, and 30 parts of N550 carbon black and 25 parts of paraffin oil, the EPDM rubber foam material prepared by the above process and formulation factors has a good match between curing and blowing, the density (0.3081g/cm3) and hardness (21) suitable, mechanical properties (tensile strength 1.8155 MPa, tear elongation of 285 %) and microtopography better, and the comprehensive property is best.
