Gear grinding is the last step of gear finishing process.The quality of gear processing mainly depends on the grinding performance of grinding wheel.However,there has been few researches on the comprehensive evaluation on the grinding performance of grinding wheel.The grinding performance of microcrystalline ceramic abrasive worm wheel was valuated synthetically in this paper by grinding the typical gear parts(20CrMnTi spur gear parts).Firstly,the evaluation index system of wheel grinding performance was set up and the grey correlation analysis was selected as the method of comprehensive evaluation.Secondly,the rationality of grinding wheel grinding performance evaluation index system and comprehensive evaluation method proposed in this paper was verified using the method of single factor experiments.Finally,this evaluation method was used to compare the performance of microcrystalline ceramic abrasive worm grinding wheel A with that of grinding wheel B.The research achievement of this study provides a new idea for the comprehensive evaluation of the performance of grinding wheel.The optimized processing parameters of the evaluation have a guiding significance to the enterprises.The evaluation index system of wheel grinding performance has been established and the grey correlation analysis was selected as the method of comprehensive evaluation.Through the theoretical study on the practical experimental conditions of schools and enterprises,the grinding wheel performance evaluation index system is set up,including grinding force,grinding wheel surface roughness(maximum wave height,the root mean square roughness,skewness,kurtosis),gear surface roughness(parallel to the grain direction,perpendicular to the grain direction),gear metallographic burns,gear machining hardening,the precision grade of gear machining(form error of gear tooth,helix deviation,helix form deviation,helix angle deviation)and the residual stress;According to the characteristics of the experimental data and the objectives of evaluation the method of grey correlation analysis was selected as the grinding wheel performance evaluation method.The gear grinding experiments were carried out to prove the rationality of the method of grinding wheel performance evaluation.With all the specific parameters measured(before and after the experiments),the experiments on the feed of gear grinding and grinding depth were conducted respectively.Then,the method of grey correlation analysis was adopted to evaluate the performance of the grinding wheel.The findings of the performance of the grinding wheels were consistent with the results of the actual measurement parameters,which was also examined by the experienced enterprise technical personnel.Namely,the method of grinding wheel performance evaluation can be applied into the grinding wheel performance evaluation and obtain ideal evaluation conclusions.By using the method of grinding wheel evaluation,the grinding performance of the microcrystalline ceramic abrasive worm grinding wheel A and grinding wheel B were compared.Because the optimal processing parameters of different grinding wheels are not necessarily the same when grinding the same workpiece,thus in order to make sure the rationality for the comparison for different grinding wheels performance,the respective optimal processing parameters were firstly obtained by using the orthogonal experiments(based on grey correlation degree as the optimization goal)on YKS7225 machine tool,and then the index parameters of the grinding wheel performance got by the experiments with the corresponding optimized parameters were used to evaluate the two kinds of grinding wheels.The final evaluation results showed that the grinding performance of grinding wheel A was slightly better than that of the grinding wheel B;At the same time,it also showed that the performance of each grinding wheel grinding with the optimized parameters by this evaluation method was superior to that with the parameters the enterprise had ever used.It can be seen that the evaluation method of this study has a guiding significance to the enterprises for the selection of grinding wheel and grinding parameters.
