In recent years, with the improvement of automation in the iron and steel enterprises,customers require better qualities of the steel plate, and much higher accuracy of the steel plate. Such being the case, the straightening quality is an important standard used for measuring the competitiveness of the products. Medium and heavy plate plant of Ansteel adds a pre-straightening machine so as to ensure the high strength after hot rolling before the cooling control, and even cooling of the TMCP Steel Plate, and to realize the online heat treatment as well as the delivery of the high straightness of the plate.The research and application of the level 2 process control system and the model strategy of the pre plate straightening machine have enabled the full automatic control, so as to improve the steel plate straightening quality as well as the core competitiveness of the enterprises. The main contents of the research are as follows:(1) The analysis of the research and the trend of the plate pre-straightening machine home and abroad suggest that there are very few researches in this field, and that the present pre-straightening technology is short of a sound model, which limits the automation of the pre-straightening and the accuracy of this technology.(2) Through the study of technology, the mechanical structure, the major performance and the parameter designing of the pre-straightening machine, the systematic and designing programs of the pre-straightening process controlling system have been put forward so that the tracking system, L2 model, L1 level automatic controlling part, and the complete control and information management formed between the database and the HMI.(3) Due to the transformation of the plant, it is very necessary that a pre straightening machine be added between the roller and cooling controller, and that the linking up among the pre-straightening machine controlling system, and the cooling controlling system, including their communications, the interfaces and the modification of part of the programs of the secondary and trace system in the existing rolling machine so that the normal running system of the existing equipment cannot be affected after the addition of a pre-straightening machine between the rolling and cooling controlling, or that the accuracy of the existing technology of the equipment so as to ensure the tracking control precision in the whole rolling zone.(4) during the installation and debugging period, through the analysis of pre-straightening machine model, further modifications and optimization of the model have been carried out according to the requirements of different production technologies and of different qualities and thickness of the steel so that the precision and the flatness of the plate straightening technology are ensured during such a period.In summary, in this paper, the research and design of the process controlling system of the pre plate straightening machine have enabled the overall automation during the process of the steel plate straightening, and this research has played, in theory, some certain role in the straightening controlling process, and in practice, it has acted well in achieving a good straightening effect so that the production efficiency has been improved, that the quality of products has been guaranteed, and that the competitiveness and the sustainable development of enterprises have been enhanced.
