Luban jing was a folk wood craftsman's book which came to be a book in the Later period of Ming dynasty.It mainly included furniture design,housing construction and the method to choose the good time,and so on.Its contents came from many other books,such as Xin Bian Luban Ying Zao Zheng Shi,Ke Ze Bian Lan,and Yang Zhai Bi Yong.Luban jing spread in the folk of China for a long time,and the central area was the South of the Yangtze River.Nowadays,the oldest edition which we could see is the “Wanli ben”,and “Chongzhen ben” is the unbroken one closed to “Wanli ben”.Both of them are the old Luban jing,and their time is sure.The later editions in Qing dynasty maybe come from them.However,there are many kinds of “Luban jing” in the South of the Yangtze River;their quality is at sixes and sevens.It is not convenient to the researchers.So the writer will categorize them under characteristics of different editions,and find out the lines of the development of the editions of Luban jing,in the end we could has a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of Luban jing.
