Sphericity is an important indicator on the quality of the appearance of a wooden ball,sphericity error is related to the relevant parameters of CNC machining,such as cutting depth of each layer, forming cutting feed speed, the outer cutting feed speed etc., it is also related to the species and moisture of raw materials.So far, the domestic and foreign literatures about sphericity error of wooden balls are rare, most of the literatures are sphericity error of a metal sphere. With the increase of wooden crafts, wooden balls crafts are uneven quality in the market.Therefore, the study on sphericity error of wooden balls is to lay the foundation for standard processing quality of wooden ball and relevant standard- setting.In this paper, Dalbergia cochinchinensis as raw materials, NC3030 carbide cutting tools for the machining tools,processing Dalbergia cochinchinensis in certain size into three diameter of wooden ball is by CNC machine.The cutting depth of each layer, outer cutting feed speed and forming cutting feed speed are used as processing parameters,the effect of different processing parameters on the carbide cutting tools wear, as well as the effect of different processing parameters on sphericity error of the wooden ball, the impact of tool wear on the wooden ball sphericity error are investigated in this process. Looking for the most reasonable processing parameters is to improve the performance and life of tools, reduce sphericity error of wooden ball and improve the quality of products, increase processing efficiency, and finally realizes batch and standardization of the production of wooden ball.The conclusions in this paper as below:?1? In the process of machining, cutting depth of each layer,outer cutting feed speed and forming cutting feed speed have a certain influence on NC3030 coated carbide tool. NC3030 coated carbide cutter used in this paper is more suitable for small cutting depth, higher forming cutting speed and lower outer cutting speed,?2? Under the same processing conditions,wear modes of NC3030 coated carbide tool with the increase of cutting path as follows: First, the coating of TiN falls off, then in the normal stage, the coating of Al2O3 gradually falls off,when the cutting path to a certain extent, the coating completely falls off, the base has been exposed, the tool is about to fail.?3? Influence of cutting depth of each layer,outer cutting feed speed and forming cutting feed speed on sphericity error of wooden balls in different diameters are analyzed respectively by the single factor test. When the tool wear in normal phase,there is a greater impact on sphericity error of wooden balls under a small diameter when the cutting depth of each layer is changing,while the impact issmall;There always is great influence on sphericity error of wooden balls when outer cutting feed speed changing;there is a small impact on sphericity error of wooden balls when the forming cutting feed speed is changing.?4? The paper comes to the optimal processing parameters of the processing of wooden balls in different diameters by orthogonal analysis and range analysis in the last,and the descending order of the processing parameters on sphericity error is analyzed.Ultimately the optimal processing parameters of CNC machining wooden balls is: the tool in normal wear stage, when cutting depth of each layer is 1.5 mm,the outer cutting feed speed is between the 5.56.5 mm/s, and forming cutting feed speed is 13 mm/s, the sphericity error of wooden ball is smaller, the quality is better.This paper comes to draw the relevant parameters meeting the needs of actual production and processing, as well as it provides an important theoretical basis for the automation, volume, standardized production process of wooden beads,it also plays a promoting role in the standardization of processed wood products.
