Spiral bevel gears are important driving parts and widely used in automobile,engineering machinery,mining machinery,aerospace and other fields.The working performance of a machine is directly affected by tooth surface quality,so we must measure and control the tooth profile quality in the processing to achieve high performance requirements.Gear grinding machining error of Spiral bevel gear have been affected by the manufacturing accuracy of CNC machine tools,the Position of the workpiece and grinding wheel,the error of grinding wheel dressing,the vibration of machining process and so on in the gear grinding process on CNC bevel gear grinding machine,it cannot be avoided.Bevel gear manufacturing industry widely adopted gear measuring center to detect the bevel gear tooth profile,However,the gear measuring center measurement of bevel gears require multiple installation and positioning,it makes the machining and measuring datum is not uniform,And the installation and positioning for the large-sized spiral bevel gear is very inconvenient,So the measuring result of gear measuring center can not reflect the errors of gears in the sometimes.If we use the online measurment method on CNC Gear Grinding Machine,these problems can be avoided.So we researching the online measurement method on bevel gears and developing the corresponding software system for bevel gear machining,which have an important academic significance and application value.Here an online inspection method of spiral bevel gears,including theoretical tooth surface model,special probe calibration,pitch and profile online measurement and the related software in the environment of Windows,by investigating the gear meashing thetroy,analyzing the machine structure and movement pattern,using the software Visual C++ and the HMI software package provided by the Siemens 840D CNC system.The software is composed of several modoules,which are machine monitoring,data management,probe calibration,gear measurement and analysis of results.The software system also includes all the strongpoints of strong openness,easy to integrate and it is suitable for a variety of numerical control system.By applying the proposed software on the instance simulation vertification,it can implement the tooth surface equation,generate the NC code automatictly and realize the online auto measurement by control the machine axes to drive the probe moving based on the data input before hand.What's more,the software can evaluate the error level by deal with the measurement results and print the measurement reportThe software proposed here can accomplish the online auto measurement and control the machining quality of spiral bevel gear well.And the research achievement has a high practicability and worthy to be improved the processing accuracy of spiral bevel gears and the technology of online measurement.
