As the foundation of modern manufacturing, CNC technology has been widely applied in the fields of machinery, electronics, automatic control, terminal, and robot. But restricted by the software and hardware resources, mainstream CNC system is increasingly unable to meet the growing demands for intelligent, opening etc. Recent years, with the rising of new generation of information technology, such as Cloud Computing, Big Data, it provides ideas for the demands.Integrated the CNC system and the new generation of information technology and based on analyzing the mainstream CNC system, a novel CNC architecture based on Cloud Computing is proposed. Through the CNC system, services in cloud application center can be obtained. Software on CNC fields is supplied in application center. Customized applications are also permitted. Non-real-time tasks, for human machine interface as example, can be integrated in cloud platform. The hardware and software structure of CNC system is simplified, and the needs for software and hardware are transformed to cloud services, so the development of the intelligent functions is no longer restricted by hardware and software.Establish the clouded-platform of CNC system and a new scheduling method is studied based on the flavor of VMs to meet various needs of VMs. Also, a cross-platform cloud client is developed to solve the problem of different CNC system accessing cloud services. The cloud client screen update strategy is improved to reduce dependence on network bandwidth.Based on VMs, a platform is established for storage and analyzing the Big Data which comes from CNC machining process and exists intrinsic mapping relationship with the workpiece quality and processing efficiency. To verify the validity of the methods, a statistical analysis which data directly acquired from the CNC system is conducted.Finally, based on the above study, a cloud platform prototype system for HNC 8 has been developed, and for parts with complicated surfaces as example, some processing experiments are conducted to prove the advance and applicability of this study.
