This paper summarizes the situation of current iron roughneck in China and abroad,comparative the characteristics of domestic and overseas iron roughneck,according to the current casing tongs work needs,design a new type of hydraulic casing tongs.First of all,the existing casing tongs has low-efficiency and low-level automation,it can easy cause the loss of labor,it also exists hidden trouble in security.Secondly,with the petroleum industry increasingly needs,casing pipe has many types,the small diameter casing is widely used in petroleum fields,but the type of large diameter always have a vacant,so the design is mainly for large size casing.Therefore,it is a design a great significance to study a new type of iron roughneck tongs.This paper analyses the defects of casing tongs and the problem of using process,then design a new type of casing clamp and determine the best main clamping mechanism and the best back clamping mechanism,so that can improved the range of clamping.The new type of casing tongs using the slope plate structure in main tong's clamping mechanism,The back clamp mechanism using the three cylinder direct drive three point way of clamping mechanism..Based on the job requirements of casing clamp mechanism,mainly analysis and calculation the clamping parameters,research the method of design the parameters of clamping mechanism,and optimized the parts of clamping mechanism.The main clamping is design around the different size of pipe to calculate the different radius of curvature,so that can get two new slope curves.One of the curve is for screw on,the other is for screw off,it can make the design more closer to the practicality.At the same time design a new type of jaw plate.The interior using the hollow structure.It can reduce the unnecessary work load.The casing tongs design mainly includes roller diameter,clamp alveolar position and jaw plate thickness.Finally based on the different working conditions design the new mechanism.According to the detailed analysis of the whole structure,the movement process and the clamping mechanism.Use SolidWorks software to complete the 3d module of iron roughneck casing tongs,and check it.Use simulation software to analysis the main parts,and verified the feasibility of operation.Use ADAMS software to change its casing diameter,roller diameter,roller spacing,jaws angle to simulate the clamping mechanism.analyses it influence on clamping force,found that clamping the different casing pipe,the casing size in proportion to the radius ratio,andinversely proportional to the driving torque;clamping the same casing pipe,found the clamping angle in proportion to the radius ratio,and inversely proportional to the driving torque;change the jaw plate spacing and diameter of roller will affect the driving torque,but no affect on the whole.In the future design we can design the roller pitch and roller diameter first,then according to the regular pattern change it size and angle.
