Due to the unique materials forming technique,die casting wildly used in manufacture of parts.The casting defects introduced by inaccurate mold designing will have a significant impact on surface quality and use performance.For foundry man,on a traditional method,use mold testing to judge whether the mold or the casting parameters is reliable,such processes is costly.Accordingly,how to find the possible problems during the early stage of mold design is important for latterly casting parameters adjusting and efficiently production.The development of casting numerical simulation is a good solution to the above problem.After decades of development casting numerical simulation has been proved as an efficient way to design,modify casting process and mold,then to significantly reduce production cycles ? costs and increase material utilization ratio.Valve body as an important part on valve is vital for economy development and personal safety,so the high quality of valve body is important both to manufacturing company and users.Taking consider of pouring temperature,mold preheating temperature,injection speed,gate area,thickness,length,holding pressure as factor,air entertainment,filling time,solidification time,defects content as index to Establish seven factors and three levels orthogonal table.Using ProCAST simulation software for numerical simulation of die-cast process for each orthogonal experiment.Through analyzing the metal liquid flow process,solidification state,gas entertainment and defects content,determined that using flat inner gate system sized with inner gate area is 75mm2,thickness is 2.5mm and length is 2mm;also the final casting parameters are pouring temperature is 610?,mold preheating temperature is 200?,the injection speed is 2m/s and holding pressure is80 MPa.Designing and manufacturing valve body die casting mold,applying the simulation results to actual manufacture,acquired the qualified valve body,it also verifies the correctness of simulation results and it can be applied in practice.
