Amphiphilic rod coil molecules,have a strong affinity to self-organize into various supramolecular aggregates in bulk and in aqueous solutions.In this article,we have synthesized a series of triarylamine-and terphenyl-cored molecules equipped with poly(ethylene oxide)(PEO)as the coil segment.The molecular structures were characterized by 1H NMR and MALDI-TOF mass spectroscopy.In addition,we have probed their molecular arrangements and organization properties in the bulk and aqueous solutions by using differential scanning calorimetry(DSC),small-angle X-ray scattering(SAXS)spectroscopy,circular dichroism(CD),transmission electron microscopy(TEM)and atomic force microscopy(AFM).The experimental results indicate that the triphenylamine-cored propeller-shaped amphiphilic molecules(A1,A2,A3,A4)with a various PEO coil chains self-organize into an oblique columnar structures in the solid state.In aqueous solution,molecules A2,A3,A4 original self-assembles into nanoring structure.whereas,after a period of time,the molecules self-assembly morphological have changed into nanosphere,nanofibers and nanoribbons.Interestingly,CD experiments together with TEM and AFM investigation of molecules A3,A4 reveal that these molecules self-assemble into helical structures.And synthesis a series of isomers that based on the terphenyl-cored molecules(B1,B2,B3,B4)have large difference in the solid state.The molecules B3 is liquid.And the B1 molecular self-assembly into layered structure.But,the molecules B2 and B4 self-organize into an oblique columnar structures.
