With the development of the economy,the increasing demand for raw materials rising energy prices,and more stringent environmental protection.Large scale ball mill has become a technical tendency.The modeling and simulation of large ball mill are carried out in this paper.The influence of grinding parameters on the grinding effect of ball mill is studied.The application of EDEM-WORKBENCH combined simulation in the simulation of ball mill cylinder stress is discussed.The grinding parameters of ball mill are optimized by orthogonal experiment.The main research contents are as follows:(1)The advantages and disadvantages of ball mill and the trend of large-scale development are introduced.What is more the research methods of large ball mill are discussed.After that,the problems of ball mill at present and the current research situation of scholars and engineers on ball mill are introduced.Then,the application of the discrete element method in the ball mill is introduced.(2)The structure and working principle of the ball mill are introduced,and the formula for calculating the working parameters of the ball mill is put forward.The history of discrete element,the basic model used in discrete element and the basic calculation principle of discrete element are introduced.(3)The motion trajectory of particles in ball mill and the force and wear of ball mill cylinder were studied.Suggestions are made on the design of the height and spacing of the liner.(4)A model of the ball mill is made.The influnce of grinding parameters as the ball mill speed,the filling rate,the medium diameter on grinding ore effect evaluation index as ball mill torque,cylinder load,cylinder wear,the number of particle collision,particle contact number,particle kinetic energy and particle pressur.Qualitative and negative correlation between each grinding parameter and grinding evaluation index,the strength of linear relation and the rate of change are given,and the reasons are explained.(5)The EDEM-WORKBENCH simulation model was used to analyze the stress of the ball mill cylinder.By using orthogonal analysis method,the grinding parameters of ball mill are optimized,And the evaluation index of grinding effect are the number of collision,the number of contact particles,the kinetic energy of particles,the wear of liner and the stress of cylinder.(6)Some suggestions for future research on ball mills are given.For example.add FLUENT to the joint simulation on the basis of this paper,and make the particle model that can be broken down.In this paper,the relationship between the change of grinding parameters and the change of grinding effect is studied,and the application of EDEM-WORKBENCH combined simulation to the study of the stress of a ball mill cylinder is discussed.The grinding parameters are optimized by the orthogonal optimization method.It provides a reference for the future research and design of large ball mill.
