Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) are ubiquitous in the environment of persistent organic pollutants , as polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) disabled , to carry out more and more study about the novel brominated flame retardants (NBFRs) . In this study, 85 air samples were collected by the method of PUF-passive air samplers(PUF-PAS) across the country, including 30 cities sampling sites, 28 suburban sampling sites,27 rural sampling sites , studied the pollution status of polybrominated diphenyl ethers and novel brominated retardants in the air of China.The results show that the average concentration of PBDEs in air of China is 291pg/m3,range1.06-4350pg/m . The average concentration of NBFRs is 470pg/m3, the concentration range 1-4200pg/m3. The concentrations of PBDEs and NBFRs in urban air is higher than suburban and rural areas.There is a more significant positive correlation between Air concentrations of PBDEs and NBFRs in the city and population of these cities,which also have high population, indicating that the people's activities impact to the levels of air concentrations of brominated flame retardants , this effect is more pronounced in developed cities.BDE-209 is the highest content of PBDEs , accounting for over 80% of the total PBDEs , BDE-47 is the second highest content congeners of PBDEs , but only about 4%. The highest concentration of NBFRs in air of China is HBCD and DBDPE,highest concentration of HBCD is 3910pg/m3,the average concentration of HBCD is 309pg/m3,The highest concentration of DBDPE is 2540pg/m3, the average concentration of DBDPE is 142pg/m3.Correlations were showed between some PBDEs congeners,BDE-209 show correlations with other PBDEs congeners, Showed a good correlation between high brominated PBDEs congeners. In urban site,PBDEs and NBFRs have good correlation , where the correlation coefficient between DBDPE and DecaBDE of R = 0.751, p <0.01, which indicates that brominated flame retardants may have the similar source . By contrast with the previous studies , concentration of PBDEs in the air of China have been reduced , but PBDEs have a widely geographical distribution . concentrations of novel brominated flame retardant in some areas are higher than PBDEs, showed that the usage amount of NBFRs have been increasing.In the overall distribution of brominated flame retardants in air presents a East West , Areas where high concentrations of BFRs are mostly be the coastal industrialized areas and economically developed parts of densely populated urban areas.
