The carriageaxle is the key part of the locomotive running component, its performance is directly related to the safety of vehicles. The use of surface rolling process on carriageaxle production can significantly improve the fatigue strength of the carriageaxle,so the carriageaxle surface rolling technology, equipment and related technology have become one of the indispensable technologies of locomotive manufacturing industry at present. In order to realize the rolling process of the carriageaxle parts of railway locomotive, vehicles and subway, the new-type CNC rolling machine for carriage axle was developed by the research team.According to the overall requirements of CNC rolling machine for carriage axle, this paper describes the design of clamp system of rolling machine for carriageaxle, themechanical analysis and calculations for the key components, the finite element simulation analysis of dynamic and static characteristics ofthe CNC rolling machine for carriage axle, the installation and debugging of equipment, and the preliminary rolling test of carriageaxle. The results show that the clamp system of rolling machine for carriage axlecan be used to realize the automatic carriageaxle clamping and axial center orientation and the carriageaxle could be driven to rotate at aconstant speed, the clamp system for carriage axleas a whole has meet the structural stiffness and strength. If supplementing the carriageaxlerolling device,it should become a new-type CNC rolling machine for carriage axle. This devicehas simple structure, neat appearance, high efficiency. The productions which this device produces have high dimensional accuracy, surface quality, and the device has reached to the predetermined targets.
