The iron and steel industry is facing serious difficulties and challenges. It is the primary goal to keep stable and anterograde operation of blast furnaces with high yield and low consumption under the situation of increasingly scarce metallurgical resources.Pellets and natural lump ore are the main acid burden in China. The cost of pelletizing is obviously higher than that of sintering. The natural lump ore basically depends on import with high price and the metallurgical properties of it is not so good as sinter and pellets.Under this situation,to increase the ratio of sinter in the furnace burden is a normal method to reduce the production cost in blast furnaces.Measures like improving production equipments and sinter properties are not able to meet the requirements of practical production. To successfully realize smelting with full sinter in blast furnaces is the main purpose of this project. The first job of this study is to theoretically discuss of the advantages and disadvantages of sinters with different basicities in a large scope. The second work is to research the influences of basicity on sintering and sinter quality in a range from 0.04 to 3.0(B2).The last part is about the behaviours of stock column in blast furnace using deferent burdens, especially about the influence of using double basicity sinters.Through the results of above researches the burdening using double basicity sinters was optimized, the thickness of cohesive zone is reduced and the properties of stock column is advanced. The research results have shown that using acid sinter instead of pellets and full sinter smelting are feasible. The permeability of stock column in blast furnace could also be improved with reduced cohesive zone.
