The development of modern industry bring about more strict requirements towards the cutting performance of bimetal saw,and hence the research into this field becomes more and more important.Traditional saw blade design process includes the designation of milling process of different tooth profile,and substantial cutting experiment is also required,which consumes massive energy and material.Besides,the cutting force in the teeth,the stress and temperature field in the band is hard to be precisely determined.With the developing of Finite Element Method(FEM),the simulation results are becoming more and more reliable,thus this method is now applied into many fields,and avoid the defects of traditional experimental method.Up to now there is few research into the cutting simulation of bimetal blade saw,and the existing works are restricted to the investigation of cutting force.In this paper,software Advant Edge FEM is applied in the simulation of cutting force,stress and temperature field during the cutting process of bimetal saw.The single factor experiment of tooth profiles(rake angle,relief angle,tooth offset amount,tooth offset angle,blunt circle radius)are performed to analyse the influence of tooth profile on cutting performance,then orthogonal simulation experiments are performed on these tooth profiles to determine the best combination of tooth profile when the cutting performance is the best.Single factor simulation is performed on the influence of cutting output and speed to determine their influence on cutting performance.The main conclusions are:(1)Tooth offset angle have great influence on main cutting force.As Tooth offset angle becomes larger,Fx tends to decrease.Rake angle and blunt circle radius have major influence on Fx and Fy.The increase of rake angle or the decrease of blunt circle radius both lead to the decrease of Fx.The increase of rake angle and the decrease of blunt circle radius both lead to decrease of Fy.Other factors have little effect on cutting force.(2)Every tooth profile parameter have major influence on the tooth stress.The increase of rake or relief angle and the decrease in blunt circle radius all lead to the increase of tooth stress.The increase in tooth offset amount and tooth offset angle lead to a wider distribution of mises stress.(3)Take rake angle,relief angle,tooth offset amount and tooth offset angle as parameters to be optimized,the optimized parameters are found to be :?=15°,?=30°,?=0.5,?=17°.(4)The cutting performance of arc back tooth is better than that of the straight back tooth.Cutting speed has little influence on cutting force and stress,but it influences temperature obiviously.As the cutting speed increases,the temperature increases.Cutting output have major influence on cutting force,cutting stress and temperature.These three parameters increase obiviously as cutting output increases.
