Aldehyde-based polyethylene glycol was synthesized by using polyethylene glycol and Dess-Martin periodinane as raw materials. The hydroxyl group of polyethylene glycol was oxidized into aldehyde group.Their chemical structures were characterized by FTIR and 1H NMR spectroscopy, respectively. The effects of different conditions such as reaction time, reaction temperature and oxidant on the conversion rate of aldehydeized polyethylene glycol(PEG)were investigated. Then medical adhesive was prepared with tannic acid and polyethylene glycol. The hydrophilicity and peel force of the adhesive were examined by water contact angle and peel force. The factors such as the aldehyde degree of polyethylene glycol, the volume ratio of tannic acid and aldehyde polyethylene glycol, the molecular weight of polyethylene glycol influencing the hydrophilicity of the adhesive were discussed. The factors such as the aldehyde degree of polyethylene glycol, the volume ratio of tannic acid and aldehyde polyethylene glycolinfluencing the peel strength of the adhesive were discussed,.The adhesive was prepared by using gallic acid and polyethyleneimine as raw materials and using EDC and NHS as activators. The chemical structures was characterized by FTIR and 1H NMR spectroscopy, respectively. The effects of different conditions such as reaction time, reaction temperature and activator dosage on the yield of the product were investigated.
