Slicing is a gear cutting technology with high efficiency and high precision,the design theory and method of slicing cutter is one of the key factors in promoting the development of slicing.In view of the problems,inconsistent machining precision of left and right tooth surfaces and poor quality of machined surface,according to the principle of consistent rake angle,a design and computation method of slicing cutter with equal rake angle is proposed based on the principle of conjugate surface.But at present,there is no clear standard for slicing cutter design precision or reasonable tolerance,which brings difficulties to the verification of tool design method,so a cutting model of slicing is obtained by using NC machining simulation technology,the correctness of the tool design and computation method is verified through the cutting simulation experiment.In the very beginning,the conjugate surface of gear surface is obtained based on the principle of conjugate surface according to the geometric feature of machining gear tooth surface and the motion relationship in slicing.Meanwhile,the sphere surface is chosen as original rake face.To achieve the requirement of theoretical error-free edge profile,the intersecting curve of conjugate surface and original design rake face is calculated as cutting edge.The original rake face is redesigned by constructing a new rake face along the cutting edge complying with the principle of consistent rake angle.With this method,a series of cutting edges with theoretical error-free edge profile are obtained by the mean of simulative cutter sharpening,which are used for constructing the flank face.As a result,a complete slicing cutter with equal rake angle is obtained.A calculation case study is performed to verify the feasibility of the method developed above.On the basis of these works,aiming at the difficult situation which occurred in the verification process of the design method,a cutting model of slicing is established by using VERICUT NC machining simulation technology.The correctness of the design method is verified by geometric cutting simulation process and the analysis of measurement for simulation results.Finally,a slicing cutter design system is developed.The design method proposed in this paper can perfect the design theory of slicing cutter,fundamentally solve the the problem that cutting edge angles are inconsistent,and help to avoid the interference phenomenon in the process of slicing;the geometric simulation of the whole slicing process is implemented by slicing cutting simulation model,which has the ablity to verify the design method of slicing cutter.
