A Discussion Of The Revelation On Picasso’s Cubism Art About Costumes Modeling Design

This paper based on Picasso’s Cubism art theory,and the costume design will search for creative inspiration from painting which is also a kind of plastic arts.So I will analyse and explore the interconnections between Picasso’s Cubism art and costume designs and how this painting theory transform into and apply in costume modeling design.I will elaborate from the technique of Picasso’s Cubism and the painting features of each stage in Cubism period.By breaking up images and reconstitute them,Picasso presents the objects essence through geometrical construction in painting,then he adds time dimension to present an image in a multi-angle and omni-bearing way,and he also has applied a collaging technique that take entity into painting.All these innovative painting techniques have brought new inspirations on costume modeling designs which applying this new idea on modeling stereoscopic designs result in paying more attention to an integral shape.So these techniques contribute to reach a unification and balance on costumes comprehensive and visual expression.With respect to paper’s research thinking,firstly,I will start from Picasso’s Cubism art period and introduce the connotation and characteristics of Cubism art by the way of combining abstract theory and his specific painting works.Secondly,through some cases,I will illustrate the relation between painting and the modeling component elements of costume designs by means of comparison.Thirdly,I have summed up and concluded eight methods and each method’s practice result from Picasso’s Cubism art on applications of costumes modeling designs.Finally,in the practice part of graduation project,I will choose an element keynote and apply Picasso’s Cubism art theory in the whole conception and practice of costume designs from start to finish.
