Seven kinds of common campus green plants in Donghu Campus of Zhejiang Agriculture and Forestry University, including broad-leaved trees and bamboo, were selected to measure the dust retention capacity and photosynthetic response difference of common greening plants in Hangzhou campus raining after 5,10,15 d in fall(September-November 2015)and winter(December 2015-February 2016)through a combination of natural observation and laboratory test, and the influence of dust on the changes of plant net photosynthetic rate, stomatal conductance and transpiration rate of plants were also studied to compare the resistances against dust pollution of different types of plants and to explore whether there was universality in different seasons. The result showed that:(1)Through the measurement, the selected plants have a certain dust-retention capacities and found that the dust-retention capacity of plant leaves increased with the lapse of time during the process of dusting,Dust removal ability Under the same pollution source conditions, the total amount of dust in the autumn and winter seasons was as follows: Magnolia grandiflora L.(29)Schima superba Gardn.et Champ.(29)Phyllostachys edulis(Carr.)H.deLeh.(29)Phyllostachys violascens(Carr.)A.Rivet C.Riv.(29)Cinnamomum camphora(L.)Presl(29)Viburnum odoratissimum Ker-Gawl.(29)Castanopsis sclerophylla(Lindl.)Schott;(2)The photosynthetic rate, stomatal conductance and transpiration rate of the leaves of the selected plants decreased with the increase of the amount of dust in the dust-retention process. In the process of dust retention, net photosynthetic rate and stomatal conductance loss of V.odoratissimum and Phyllostachys edulis were relative smaller which indicated they have stronger resistance to the dust pollution while Castanopsis sclerophylla,Cinnamomum camphora and Phyllostachys edulis loss rate were relative lager suggesting the anti-dust pollution capacity was weak.(3)According to the ability of dust retention and photosynthetic characteristics of plant leaves,Viburnum odoratissimum and Phyllostachys violascens have a certain ability of anti-dusting pollution, while their photosynthetic capacity is relatively better in the process of dust retention, which can be initially judged to have certain anti-dust pollution. Therefore,it can be used as the preferred choice for the campus dust-retention plants;on the contrary,Castanopsis sclerophylla,Cinnamomum camphora and Phyllostachys edulis should not be planted in areas with more serious environmental pollution or as dust-retention plants.(4)Thus,this study further confirmed that the dust-retention capacity of plants is closely related to their photosynthetic capacity. Therefore, when choosing greening plant and its configuration should not only consider leaf dust retention ability, but also the tree performance to dust retention so that to comprehensively select and evaluate the green plants.
