The Bailanghe Ferris Wheel is the first ferris wheel in the world without shaft in the form of woven mesh.The scheme of setting up temporary bracing system was adopted in the construction of the Ferris Wheel.This paper takes this Ferris Wheel as project background.Construction process of the ring-shaped steel Ferris Wheel was simulated and monitored.For this structure,a reasonable closure scheme is put forward.Achievement of this paper is followed:Firstly,a finite element model of the Ferris Wheel was developed.The process of components installation was simulated.The cables tensioning was simulated.And unloading by steps was simulated.The simulation was performed twice,the first time to consider the installation temperature,and the other one doesn't.The maximum stress and displacement of the structure of the Ferris Wheel in each construction step were obtained.The initial tension of the cable in the first tension and second tension were determined.The change of internal force and displacement of the Ferris Wheel in the process of unloading was obtained.The stress of key members of the structure was monitored during the construction process.By comparing the results,it can be found that the monitoring results are consistent with the calculation results.Their trends are coincident as well.Therefore,the correctness of the finite element method has been proven.In order to ensure the shape after the completion to meet the design requirements,the pre-deformation analysis was carried out.The temperature was considered in this analysis.Temperature sensitivity analysis was carried on in this paper.The results show that the structure over 78 m is not sensitive to temperature load.The bottom structure is sensitive to temperature load.A closure scheme which is different from the common closure scheme is proposed.A reasonable value of the closure temperature is put forward.
