Ferris Wheel is a large rotating wheel rim structure of machinery building recreational facilities, along with the development of its giant to pursue its own optimal performance, such as the lightest of its own quality and the minimum windward area, now the spoke-shaped structure in which all spokes in the wheel are all cable structure became the most popular of the Ferris wheel structure.Spoke cable is an important part of spoke-shaped Ferris Wheel structure. Spoke cable properties on the Ferris Wheel plays a vital role in a whole structure of stiffness and shear performance, the pretension force imposed on the spoke cable and spoke cable cross-sectional area are the main factors affecting spoke cable performance. The research on the influence factors of spoke cable on structure for improving characteristic of the Ferris wheel is necessary. This paper took the Ferris Wheel which the highest point of the Ferris Wheel is 190m above ground level and it's diameter is 180m, it is the higher Ferris Wheel in similar spoke-shaped Ferris Wheels as the research object, and launched the following research:Firstly, according to the structure characteristics of the spoke-shaped Ferris Wheel, establishing a mechanical model, and building the finite element model of the structure of the Ferris Wheel in the ANSYS software. The boundary conditions of the equipment are analyzed in detail. Based on design conditions determining the load and calculating the main loads of the Ferris Wheel, the main loads include the following:permanent loads, live loads, spoke cable pretension, snow load, wind load, earthquake load; Through the calculation of the ANSYS software got the minimum pretension of spoke cable. After determining pretension of spoke cable, doing static and dynamic of the Ferris Wheel structure; then according to the characteristics of the location of the Ferris Wheel, in accordance with the relevant provisions to select equivalent static force wind contains and earthquake wave. This analysis is limited to the influence of spoke cable on structure characteristic of the Ferris Wheel in the permanent load, live load, spoke cable tension and earthquake load. The study found that the Ferris Wheel spoke cable pretension on the turntable structure deformation has obvious effect, the distribution of the natural frequency of the Ferris Wheel structure is dense, and the influence of spoke cable pretension on the natural frequency of the Ferris Wheel is not obvious, meanwhile spoke cable diameter has a little effect on the natural frequency of the Ferris Wheel, the change was positively related. The displacement, velocity and acceleration of the structure under the earthquake load can meet the requirements of the standard. Spoke cable pretension and diameter has great influence on the Ferris Wheel structure and displacement, but has a little effect on the velocity and acceleration.This paper took the engineering example as the background, calculated the pretension force of the spoke cable, analyzed the strength of the structure of the Ferris Wheel, and under the premise of meeting customer requirements, studying on the influence of the spoke cable on the structure deformation, the influence of spoke cable on the natural frequency of the structure and the influence of spoke cable on seismic response of the overall structure, got the relationship between the pretension force of the spoke cable,diameter of the spoke cable and the deformation, the velocity, the acceleration this research has important theoretical and practical significance to the design of the Ferris Wheel.
