With the rapid economic and social development,the demand for oil and natural gas is increasing day by day,which inevitably drives the development of storage tanks.However,in the long-term use of storage tanks,problems such as aging,corrosion and leakage will inevitably occur,which may easily lead to safety problems and cause economic losses and environmental pollution.The conventional non-destructive testing techniques,the basic need for tank stop,open cans,clear cans,descaling,rust,etc.,and then testing,and testing longer,high cost,labor-intensive.Acoustic emission technology is a dynamic,non-destructive on-line detection technology that can perform 100% inspection of the tank bottom and make a qualitative assessment,which satisfies the engineering requirements to some extent.This article aims at the research and application of the on-line detection system for acoustic emission of corrosion of large crude oil storage tank bottom plates.Starting from the actual conditions,three important parameters such as sensor placement height,sound velocity,and liquid level height during acoustic emission testing are simulated and explored.The sensor is arranged at 300 mm from the bottom of the tank,the sound speed is 1500m/s,and the tank liquid level height is 85%.At this time,the acoustic emission detection is in the best condition in terms of signal acquisition quantity,signal concentration,and sound source positioning accuracy.The experiment and analysis of the corrosion history in the operation of crude oil storage tanks show that the amplitude of crude oil tank corrosion is about 35--80 dB.Based on this,through the use of different instruments in the same tank for two acoustic emission tests and comparing the results of the two tests to prove that the laboratory simulation data is reasonable,it also proves that the acoustic emission technology is highly efficient,reasonable,and reliable for the bottom corrosion detection of tanks.
