In chemical industry, storage tank is the necessary container for all kinds of chemical products. The safety inspection and corrosion evaluation on storage tanks can effectively prevent and control the occurring of catastrophic accidents. Traditional detection methods have to be carried out under the condition of downtime and opening, which has high test cost. As a new nondestructive examination technology, Acoustic emission (AE) has the advantage of no need to open tanks, fast and economic. In view of the application requirements of the acoustic emission inspection, the development of the system for acoustic emission inspection management and corrosion evaluation on storage tank is researched, the related work as follows:Firstly, on the base of analysis for functional requirements of storage tank system, the overall layout of the system structure is determined. The system mainly includes the database of AE inspection and the corrosion evaluation of storage tank bottom. The structure of the system software and the layout of the corrosion evaluation of storage tank bottom are respectively designed. The corrosion evaluation module of tank bottom mainly includes AE source location?identification of corrosion areas and evaluation on storage tank bottom.Secondly, in view of the imprecision of measured time in traditional location algo rithms, the method of local optimization of time difference in AE source location is st udied. By means of iteration, the time difference between sensors is revised constantly and the AE source location results calculated by different sensor groups are converge d to one point. The feasibility of the method is proved by the lead breaking experime nt.Again, the identification method for corrosion areas on tank bottom based on ada ptive affinity propagation is researched. The areas where AE events are focused are d etermined by adaptive scanning of parameters space and adaptively adjusting damping factors. The corrosion areas on storage tank bottom are identified by the areas parame ters. The analysis of simulation data shows that the clustering regions of AE events a re precisely found and the accuracy of region recognition on tank bottom is improved.Finally, the process of corrosion evaluation on tank bottom according to the acoustic emission testing standards is studied. In addition, the functional modules and the system for acoustic emission inspection management and corrosion evaluation on storage tank are developed. The storage tank system is applied to the engineering data analysis and the accuracy of the system is verified.
