With the development of paper industry,a huge waste of water and pulp have been caused due to the immature technology.Therefore,it is ugent for the improvement of papermaking technology.Adding cationic polyacrylamide as usual retention/drainage aid is the most common method at the present stage.A series of cationic polyacrylamide with high performance was prepared by using redox/azo complex initiators in aqueous solution in this research under the light.Firstly,the cationic polyacrylamide P?AM-DAC?as retention/drainage aid for papermaking was successfully synthesized by using acryloyloxyethyltrimethyl ammonium chloride?DAC?and acrylamide?AM?as the monomer under the metal halide light.The optimum synthesis conditions were obtained as follows:??NH4?2S2O8/Na HSO3/V-50?as the complex initiators,pH value?5?,mass fraction of monomer?30%?,mole cationic degrees?10%?,illumination time?50 min?,initiator temperature?10??,mass ratio of oxidizer/reductant?1?,mass fraction of oxidant-reductant?0.002%?,mass fraction of V-50?0.001%?,mass fraction of EDTA·2Na?0.003%?,quality score of sodium formate?0.001%?,mass fraction of inorganic salt?3%?,mass fraction of solubilization agent?5%?and mass fraction of chain extension agent?0.006%?.The intrinsic viscosity and the dissolving time of final product was respectively 13.46 dL·g-1 and 35 min.Meanwhile,the structural feature of obtained polymer were characterized by FTIR and 1H-NMR.Secondly,the as-prepared P?AM-DAC?was used for the experiment of retention/drainage aid.The results showed that the retention total rate increased 13.3%and the drainage weight increased 96 g after adding P?AM-DAC?.Compared with similar products abroad,the preformance of retention and drainage were obtained through the comparison with the similar products as P?AM-DAC?>P182>FO4190PG1 and P182?P?AM-DAC?>FO4190PG1,respectively.Thirdly,the cationic polyacrylamide P?AM-DMC?as retention/drainage aid for papermaking was successfully synthesized under the metal halide light,using methacryloyloxyethyl trimethyl ammonium chloride?DMC?and acrylamide?AM?as the raw material.The optimum synthesis conditions were as follows:??NH4?2S2O8/NaHSO3/V-50?as the complex initiators,mole cationic degrees?10%?,initiator temperature?10??,pH value?5?,mass fraction of monomer?30%?,illumination time?50 min?,mass ratio of oxidizer/reductant?1?,mass fraction of oxidant-reductant?0.002%?,mass fraction of V-50?0.001%?,mass fraction of EDTA·2Na?0.003%?,quality score of sodium formate?0.001%?,mass fraction of inorganic salt?3%?,mass fraction of solubilization agent?5%?and mass fraction of chain extension agent?0.006%?.The intrinsic viscosity and the dissolving time of final product was respectively 11.80 dL·g-1 and 35 min.Meanwhile,the structural feature of prepared polymer was characterized by FTIR.Lastly,the as-prepared P?AM-DMC?were used for retention and drainage experimental research.The results showed that the retention total rates increased 6.5%and the drainage weight increased 98 g.
