The disposal of waste with a complex composition that involves solid and liquid wastes simultaneously remains a problem in rotary kiln incinerators. The thermal physical properties of multi state wastes were analyzed,a staged co-incineration scheme was proposed for solid and liquid waste disposal from a pesticide production process, numerical simulation and engineering application were studied based on rotary incineration. The waste was mixed according to the mass of daily production. And the calorific value of waste was measured, the industrial analysis and elemental analysis of the waste were measured by drying cabinet, muffle furnace, scanning electron microscope, ash melting point was measured by high temperature furnace.A co-incineration experimental system was established, the kiln inner diameter 150 mm,length 1650 mm,and incineration experiments were conducted with various incineration times. The slag with was collected at different times, slag properties were analyzed, and heat loss rate of slag was measured by muffle furnace.Experimental results demonstrated that solid and liquid wastes can be disposed of entirely by incinerating for 1 h at 800 ?in a rotary kiln. When solid,semi-solid and liquid wastes are fed from the furnace at the same time, the waste heat of low calorific value is not conducive to the complete combustion of materials in the furnace. An innovative design was proposed for the staged co-incineration,in which the liquid waste was sprayed onto the high-temperature area of auxiliary fuel and solid waste combustion. The staged co-incineration was propitious to stable and complete combustion and conducive to reducing coke on the inner wall of the rotary kiln.A numerical simulation was performed based on FLUENT software to determine the temperature distribution and appropriate position of liquid waste that was sprayed onto the rotary kiln given the heat and mass transfer characteristics of t he staged co-incineration.The optimization and modification of the rotary kiln were implemented based on experimental and simulation thermal analyses. The practical operation of the staged co-incineration demonstrated the validity of waste disposal in the improved rotary kiln incinerator.
