Illite is a typical representative of layered aluminosilicate clay minerals.Because of its unique layered structure and excellent adsorption properties,Illite is widely used in wastewater treatment,fertilizers,coatings,papermaking,and heavy metal adsorption.The nanosilver particles have important applications in catalytic materials,biosensing materials and medical antibacterial materials due to their excellent antibacterial properties and surface activity.Therefore,combining illite with nanosilver to prepare a new type of antibacterial material will have certain development potential and application value.In this work,in order to improve the adsorption and ion exchange capacity of illite.Firstly,the illite was processed by ball milling and wet purification to produce a finely refined illite powder.Then,the illite was modified by the hydrothermal synthesis method,the effect of different reaction conditions on the modification of illite was discussed,and the optimal modification experimental conditions were determined.Finally,the high-content nano-Ag/illite composite was prepared through modified of illite microwave-assisted upload and ultraviolet lamp irradiation reduction of Ag.The structure,morphology,particle size and affinity of Ag and illite were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD),infrared spectra(FTIR),inductively coupled plasma(ICP),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),transmission electron microscopy(TEM)and laser particle size distribution analyzer.The results showed that the modified illite became thicker due to the distracted layers,displaying the flower-like shape,the adsorption performance and ion-exchange capacity of modified illite obviously were enhanced.In the meantime,the BET specific surface area was calculated to 20m~2/g,which is several four times larger than natural illite(4m~2/g).Through microwave-assisted upload and ultraviolet reduction of Ag,the uniformed Ag nano-particles were dispersed highly on the surface of illite and interacted closely to illite.The Ag content in the nano-Ag/illite composite is up to 27.66%.The antibacterial activities of the nano-Ag/illite composites against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli were investigated by the inhibition zone test.The results showed this composite material had excellent antibacterial activity against both Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli.The maximum antibacterial sizes were up to 5.68mm and 6.84mm.
