Every year, the pavements are always frozen by the icy weather, causing a great number of serious accidents. Consequently, how to remove the snow and ice economically and efficiently on the pavements, city roads, highways, and airport runways, turns to be a tough issue faced by the administration sections to get the traffic flow and road safety in these extremities. To tackle the issue mentioned above, this paper primarily analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of the existing pavement deicing methods. Then, through comprehensively extracting the merits of heating power deicing technology, mechanical deicing methods, and chemical deicing techniques, this paper proposed a new deicing technology which combines thermal water-jet cutting with mechanical milling technology.This dissertation mainly analyzes the following aspects:(1) Propose the new deicing ideaBy analyzing the deficiencies of the existing deicing methods and icing pavement structural properties, a new method which combines thermal water-jet cutting with mechanical deicing technology is proposed. And then, this paper explores the structure and working principle of the deicing devices.(2) Design, experiments and analysis of Thermal water-jet deicing equipmentThis part predominantly focuses on the mechanism of thermal water-jet deicing, providing some theoretical supports to the deicing experiments. With ANSYS FLUENT simulation software, the fluid field of the jet under different kinds of nozzles is simulated and analyzed, obtaining the optimal nozzle aperture for device experiments. In this process of experiments, the deicing efficiency under different jet pressure, temperature and nozzle aperture, and so on respectively, has thoroughly been theoretically investigated, practically tested and totally analyzed, gaining the most optimal parameters to refine the deicing device.(3) Experiments, structural analysis and optimal design on the mechanical-milling deicing deviceWith comparison to various mechanical deicing methods, this part eventually chooses the mechanical milling method for further study. Then, adopting ANSYS Mechanics software, the dynamic analysis results of the cutting disk are obtained. And then, comprehensively using all the result above, the whole mechanical milling device is designed and the preliminary testing is conducted.(4) Indoor testing and validationAccording to the indoor prototype testing results, the feasibility of the thermal water-jet mechanical pavement deicing technology is validated, and the application prospects of the technology are analyzed.Through repeated experiments, the device performs well and is excellent to remove the ice and snow on the ground, which again, has validated the feasibility of the new technology.
