As the important part of Dam safety monitoring, the dam-body deformation monitoring which provides real-time deformation of dam-body to people is aimed to make people discover the hidden security risks and take appropriate countermeasures to reduce dam-break's risks caused by the deformation of dam. With the development in computer technology and electronic technology, higher requirements of Dam deformation monitoring are set, and realizing intelligence and network of instrument based on high precision and reliability are the further of monitor instrument design.This paper studies and designs a high precise dam-body deformation monitor integrated with optics, signal proceeding technology and digital image technology. Based on detailed analysis of work and measuring principles of the linear CCD, it put forward to a new scheme to noncontact monitoring of dam-body deformation basis on TCD1703 C which is a double channel linear CCD. The scheme uses STM32F103 as the processor which provides rich peripheral resources and powerful on-chip processing ability to data collection and operations. Based on analyses of all kinds of edge-detection methods, this paper proposes a new edge-detection method named centroid-method weighted gradient and its strong anti-noise ability and simpleness let it apply to sub-pixel edge detection of hypogynous machine and have ability to realize high precision monitoring of instrument. Combined with hardware and software noise filter, this paper strives to improve the stability of equipment operation.In hardware aspect, this paper introducts five main modules: the lighting module lighted by red LED; the driver module with CPLD provides divers for the linear CCD and synchronous sampling clock; the conversion module in which image signal is pretreated converted by high speed A/D; the data processing module which uses STM32F103 as processor to process. In software aspect, the CCD's driver timing, data-collection control, signal-noise processing, edge detection program and the functions program of the deformation monitor are designed, and it realizes displacement measure, 485 communications, data storage, timing measure and auto control of light source and temperature.The paper finally tests the precision and the stability of instrument, and it verifies good reliability and stability of the dam-body deformation monitor. So this paper provides a reliable way in the application of linear CCD for dam-body deformation monitoring.
