The car is growing to be a platform which connect complex and increasing numb er of information, it provide more and more controllable information entertainment fu nctions. In terms of interaction mode, multimodal user interface will become the core of future interaction design. From perspective of the mass production of the industria l product design, in addition to the mouse, keyboard, touch screen of the three mode of human-computer interaction, more and more interaction mode is becoming availabl e, such as gesture, voice, eye and other interaction. At the same time, as a possible w ay of interaction, the gesture has been used in some products(especially games) and gradually in exhibition design. Compared to the traditional mode of operation and oth er physical touch, gesture interaction was considered more natural in interaction with the machine or a computer. The man-machine interface design is one of the important fields of human-computer interaction. Especially with Apple Car Play as the represen tative of the new user interface which with a large number of automobile manufacturi ng enterprise integration, the multimodal user interface to gesture interface have mor e possibilities in the car in the interface. Therefore, the design of man-machine interf ace in automobile gesture based design will become an important direction of future a utomotive man-machine interface. In order to design a good gesture based human-co mputer interaction interface, a natural gesture refers to meet user expectations of the i nput, so how to design easily understand gestures and gain good aesthetic and emotio nal experience has become a key problem.This paper starts from the theoretical study of man-machine interactive interface for interactively and discussed Automobile Human-Machine interaction interface general control device and method. Then it describes the characteristics of various control methods and equipment. Besides, the research on the theory of the Gesture is discussed, the key content of gesture theory is summarized, and the importance of user involvement in gesture design is concluded. Based on the discussion on construction of the Gesture-based Automobile Human-Machine interactive system, it discusses the model the key elements required, providing the theory and design framework for the gesture-based of Automobile Human-machine interactive interface.Then, a user defined gesture design method for vehicle user interface is proposed.On the one hand,by analyzing the information structure of the existingin-vehicle Human-machine interaction system, three classes of architecture prototypes are defined. and a user based usability testing experiment is setup to define the structure of gesture-based Automobile Human-machine interface.On the other hand,by setting the driving scenario and experiment environment,a 12 users involved user-defined gesture design experiment was conducted. According to the experimental results a user-defined gestures are classified, and the user gesture design mental models are analyzed.Eventually,a gesture-set for In-vehicle multimedia entertainment systems was defined.Finally,the research carried on the design practice of gesture-based Automobile Human-machine interface design.With the reference of the model discussed before,by combining the User-defined gesture set,the function and structure of gesture-based in-vehicle multimedia system was defined.Finally, the product development based on gesture operation is realized with the technology support.Therefore,the content and theory of the research is applied to practice successfully.The significance of this paper is to discuss the key design process and method of gesture design in the design of gesture-based Automobile Human-machine interface.With the goal to implement natural interaction in-vehicle,and meeting the demand of the driver on driving safety and driving experience.The research provides certain guidance on the design method of interaction mode of the Automobile Human-Machine interface,which is also as a implement of user-centered design methodology. As a contribution and achievements in the application area,in the paper a framework of the gesture-based Automobile Human-machine interface design based on gesture manipulation is developed,based on the construction of gesture-based Automobile Human-machine interface model.With the experiment of User-defined gesture design,a gesture-based In-vehicle multimedia service system is developed.Therefor, the application and design of the space gesture interaction in Automobile Human-machine interface come to realize.
