Research of fatigue of metal structure about construction machinery is alwayshot issues. Fatigue failure problem mostly occurs with a sudden, which makes fatiguedamage devastating disasters, such as the collapse of the whole staff and casualties.How to control or reduce the occurrence of fatigue failure is urgent.Quayside container cranes play an important role in modern ports, and they arebusy machinery. During work, trolley of quayside container crane run on high speedalong the crane girders lifting a container and may start or stop suddenly. At the sametime, container can be lifted or dropped. Loads of quayside container crane arecomplex and vary randomly, so it is necessary to do research on the fatigue loadspectrum and the residual life.Based on research in related fields at home and abroad and fatigue theory,combining structural properties and work characteristics of quayside container cranes,determine the type of fatigue and choose the nominal stress method to estimate theirremaining life. The detailed research and main conclusions in this dissertation aresummarized as follows:(1)Read papers about the structural fatigue and load spectrum, summarize andanalyze the status quo and its shortage, and introduce the theory of fatigue.(2) According to the mechanical characteristics of the container crane, combinedwith testing standard and specific situation of damage, select fatigue measurementpoints and carry on dynamic sampling. Combine the sampling data and static stress offinite element analysis obtained under the weight of the structure to obtain completestress data for the preparation of the load spectrum.(3) Preprocess the fatigue stress data, use the rain-flow counting method to countstatistics cyclically. Carry on research about amplitude and frequency amplitudeprobability distribution of the data to get load spectrum of the crane structure. Basedon the theory of fatigue load spectrum, extend frequency of the measured load to getthe whole lifetime of the load spectrum, for dynamic sampling occurs in a relativelyshort time. (4) In this paper, based S-N fatigue curve regulated by design rules of cranestructure, taking into account the impact structural damage of stress, whose amplitudeis less than the fatigue limit. According to the actual work situation of the crane,choose the modified linear cumulative damage theory reasonably estimate theresidual fatigue life he quayside container crane. Realize the visualization ofremaining life’s estimation by the application of VB.
