Rutting is one of the most serious diseases of asphalt pavement, for it can greatly affect the asphalt structure performance, and its service life. Evaluation of rutting in asphalt pavement is key to overcome rutting problem by improving the asphalt pavement design. Full-thickness rutting test is an improvement to standard testing methods, considering that it breaks the restriction on specimens' height, and conducts tests on the two-layer or three-layer composite specimens directly. Full-thickness rutting test concludes the structure?material and loading characteristics, hence it is more practical than traditional single-layer rutting test results. A new rutting predicting method was explored in this paper specifically.At the first place, effects of temperature and loads on rutting were analyzed respectively, and the influence function of rutting depth?temperature and loading was set up, using orthogonal full-thickness rutting test;And then, the relativity between full-thickness rutting test and asphalt pavement rutting was analyzed. Full-thickness rutting test simulation models were established and validated by test results, on the base of which, simulation models of real asphalt pavement were established, to analysis the relativity between full-thickness rutting test results and real asphalt pavement ruts( or size effect). And the analysis result shows that they are linear correlated.At last, according to the linear correlation between permanent deformation of actual pavement and indoor full-thickness rutting test results, asphalt pavement rutting prediction model based on full-thickness rutting test was established. This asphalt pavement rutting prediction model will be simple and low-cost, might give some reference on solving the problem of rutting prediction.
