With the continuous development of economy and society, vehicle ownership and road traffic volume increase sharply, the highway transportation received more and more attention. As an important part of highway, confluence affected zone is particularly important to the efficiency and safety. Therefore, studying the vehicle behavior in highway confluence affected zone, and analyzing the running characteristics of traffic flow have important theoretical significance to improve the safety and efficiency of highway system. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the following behavior and lane-changing behavior of the vehicle from the perspective of microcosmic driving behavior. Based on this, this paper discussed the traffic characteristics in confluence zone and the influence of acceleration lane length of ramp confluence.This paper first introduced the geometric structure of highway confluence zone, analyzed the traffic characteristics in confluence zone, as well as the main research methods.Then the following characteristics of the vehicle, the lane-changing characteristics in confluence zone and the main influence factors were analyzed. On this basis, this paper developed and improved the conventional lane-changing model by analyzing the mechanism between the vehicle and the surrounding environment(vehicles around, the end of acceleration lane, etc.) in confluence affected zone, what's more, this paper established the micro operation model which is suitable for the confluence affected zone.Finally, this paper discussed the interaction relationship between traffic flow in the mainline traffic and in the ramp through the simulation analysis, found that the greater the traffic flow in the mainline traffic or in the ramp traffic, the stronger the traffic disturbance is, and the more the number of confluence failure vehicles in acceleration lane. Through the analysis the relationship between the proportion of low-speed vehicles and the number of confluence failure vehicles, this paper found that with the increase of low-speed vehicles proportion, the number of failure vehicle increased as well. Through the analysis of the impact of length of acceleration lane ramp on traffic flow, found that confluence success vehicles are positively correlated with the length of acceleration lane, and when the length increased to a certain value, the number of confluence success vehicles no longer increase.
