Current metal 3 DP technologies, such as laser and electron beam, micro arc welding, and welding three-dimensional molding and so on, use high energy beam for melting the metal powder material or wire material to form a molten pool, and establish metallurgical bond with the shaped surface. Since the formation of molten pool is complex and uncontrolled and local high temperature makes the parts form large internal stress and cracks, in this paper, we proposed semi-solid metal extrusion deposition molding process. This technology avoids the formation of molten pool with simple equipment and low cost. Besides, coupling five-axis linkage CNC technology, cantilever structure parts molding is realized, expanding application scope.Firstly, this paper expounds the principle of semi-solid metal forming, analyzes the internal causes of its excellent performance. Then we introduced the structure and characteristics of common five-axis linkage CNC technology. Based on this, a five-axis linkage NC workbench meeting the requirements of this article was designed. And five-axis linkage coordinate transformation equation was established. We designed and produced the test equipment of semi-solid metal extrusion deposition molding, and introduced the structure design of key components in detail, for example, the wire feeding device, the nozzle and five-axis linkage NC workbench.Tin copper alloy wire as raw material, has been carried on the experimental study on the molding system. The influence raw of wire feed rate, scanning speed, temperature and nozzle diameter were investigated on the molding effect. The experimental results agree with the theoretical estimation. Three-dimensional metal parts are shaped up based on it, showing satisfactory results.In addition, the cantilever structure parts are successful molding, achieved preliminary effect. The feasibility that molding cantilever structure parts based on five-axis linkage NC workbench was verified.
