The gear coupled rotor system with multi-parallel shafts is one of the typical dynamic and transfer device widely used in rotating machinery, which is also a key component of the rotating machinery. It has the advantages of smooth transmission, high efficiency, accurate transmission ratio, compact structure and constant power transmission. It has a very important influence on the dynamics and reliability of the whole machine working performance. Due to the gear meshing, the vibration of the system also seriously does harm to the unit's long-term safe and stable operation. During the research, it is found that the dynamics characteristics of gear rotor system and simple rotor system have a fundamental difference. If we do not consider the effect of coupling vibration, not only can it cause low precision, but also it may lose some important information, such as the new frequencies of mode coupling, tensional excitation caused lateral responses and so on. Therefore, it is of great sigenificance when to do the research on the dynamic analsys of gear coupled rotor system taking the coupling vibration effect into consideration.In this paper, it is chosed that the compressor system of Yangzi PTA compressor, which is provided by Shenyang Blower Works Group Corapration, as the research object. The dynamic model and the finite element model are established by finite element analysis software ANSYS. A detailed study was conducted on the dynamic characteristics of the gear coupled rotor system with multi-parallel shafts, so as to improve the product reliability and security. The main contents of the paper are as follows:(1) A full freedom of general-purpose three-dimensional helical gear meshing dynamics model has been deduced, and a gear coupling rotor system of lateral-torsional vibration equation has been established. The finite element model of the compressor system has been established by ANSYS, and the natural characteristics analysis has been done under the fixed speed and continuous speed working conditions.(2) The utility software for natural characteristic analysis of gear coupled rotor system with multi-parallel shafts has been developed by use of Visual Basic 6.0 sofrware. Through the friendly interface, it can realize the parameterized modeling building of the system, the calculation of gear meshing stiffness and stiffness matrix, and the natural characteristics analysis of system under all kinds of vibration, which of great practical engineering value.(3) The unbalance vibration response characteristic of the compressor system has been analysised by ANSYS model. Considering the influence of gear coupling, based on the transient analysis and harmonic response, the system critical speed is checked, and the margin of the isolation is calculated.(4) The dynamic reliability of gear pair has been analysised. According to the stress & strength interference model theory, the actual load effect is considered as a stochastic process, the function for random process has been built, the the time course of dynamic reliability of gear and the gear pair have been calculated out based on the perturbation method and Monte Carlo method.
