With the development of intelligence theory, many scholars apply the intelligent algorithm to distribution network reconfiguration. In this paper, the improved harmony search algorithm based on the loop decomposition is used to optimize the distribution system, and an example is given.Through the analysis of the topological structure of distribution network, according t o the characteristics of the structure, a forward and back/forward substitution method bas ed on branch current for power flow calculation of network structure in the process of d istribution network reconfiguration, establishes the mathematical model of distribution net work reconfiguration is to minimize the active power loss as the objective; based on the introduction of the standard of harmony search algorithm principle and operation steps, on the improper algorithm parameter selection will lead to convergence speed is reduced , poor stability, and easy to fall into local optimum solution, introduce the quick branch exchange method to local search of new harmony and generate a second new harmony, consequently, increase the diversity of the harmony memory, the algorithm can jump ou t of local optimum, and improve the global search ability of the algorithm; coding of ha rmony by the encoding method based on loop decomposition, ensure every harmony of i nitial solution concentration is a feasible solution.Through two examples to verify this algorithm, proved that this algorithm has a fast er convergence speed, and can effectively avoid algorithm falling into local optimal, sho w that the effect of the optimization performance of the improved algorithm is not affect ed by the initial parameters, verify the realization and the higher searching performance of the improved algorithm.
