The visual blind spot is inevitable, it cause by the vehicles of mechanical construction, and the driver can not completely eliminate the safety problems which cause by the visual blind spot. The traffic accidents caused by blind sport that promoting the development of automotive driver assistance systems, these systems are playing a very important role to reduce the traffic accidents. Because of its good visual experience, panoramic driver assistance system is popular with the majority of car manufacturers and drivers. Thought the technology of image processing the sequence of video can generate the real time panoramic video, it can be rendered very intuitive on the environment of the vehicle and to understand the distance between the vehicle and pedestrian for driver, it can effectively eliminate the security risks. Panorama make it possible for the driver to predict the security risks in advance. But currently available typical automotive panorama assist driving system is only capable of presenting a simple splicing and fusing video. The panorama is a two-dimensional plane, which can only present a planar angle, it result in the shortcomings of single angel of viewing, limited field of viewing and less operational, concerning this issue the researchers of Fujitsu propose 3D panorama driver assistance systems, using sophisticated 3D technology to achieve true three-dimensional panoramic representation and obtain a 3D panoramic video around the vehicle to achieve a real 3D display. Compared to other systems, in terms of this technology has more prominent advantages.In this paper, the main work focusing on the key technology about 3D Panorama driver assistance system, research how to use a plane image to create a view which has a good 3D panorama visual effect. Through analysis three dimensional model (flat, cylindrical and spherical), we proposes a three-dimensional mesh mode, it is composed of bottom, a spherical connecting surface and a annular cylindrical portion and it is similar to the real three-dimensional environment of the car. Thereof it also proposed a texture mapping algorithm for the three-dimensional model based on the improved principle of equal-area, mapping the two dimensional panoramic image to the surface of three-dimensional and achieve 3D panoramic video display. Finally thought the experiments to validate the model and mapping algorithm, the experiments using two texture data (rectangle texture data, round texture data), results showed that mapping algorithm can be better mapping the 2D panoramic image to three-dimensional model,3D panorama has better visual effect than the traditional planar one and it can better present the panorama vision around the car. In addition, it supports the function of arbitrary viewpoint switching.
