Combustion system for industrial boiler is a complicated time-varying and dynamic process, with obvious non-linearity, tight coupling, long time lags and strong interference. So it is hard to achieve ideal control performance and higher rate of automatic operation with traditional PID algorithm. Through analyzing the situation and developing trend of boiler system control, it is concluded that boiler with intelligent system can get regulation and power economization to achieve better economic and social benefits.This paper discussed the operation mechanism of gas boiler, and analyzed the energy transfer process of gas combustion and boiler control system, such as the control of boiler combustion, water lever and superheated temperature. With the example of 130t/h medium temperature and pressure boiler in Xinyu iron and steel Company, it designed DCS of the boiler. HOLLIAS MACS can use the real-time interface, malfunction alarm, historical data record and trouble diagnostic to control the boiler based on this system, which can improve the boiler quality. It also described the structure and network structure of this control system. It applied hardware configuration to the control system and gave the best model and configuration. It also applied software configuration of host and guest computer to the system, and offered DCS operation. It researched boiler drum water level control system and its characters. The three impulses control system of water level of boiler drum based on the traditional PID control. In order to get better regulation, adaptive fuzzy PID control technology is applied to three impulses control system of water level. It studied the simulation with Matlab, and compared the merits and faults of traditional PID control and adaptive fuzzy PID control which laid the foundation for further optimization.
