In more than one hundred years of the automotive industry development, the engine technology is being constant innovation and the development of engine vacuum pump is also undergoing technology changes as automotive vacuum source. The vacuum pumps were usually used for diesel engines only in the early stage and the main function of vacuum pumps was to provide vacuum source for vacuum booster pumps in the brake system. Because of its single function and without high requirements on vacuum pumping speed and vacuum degree, the speed, pumping speed and other indicators is not high for the vacuum pumps. With the upgrading of modern automobile technology, the automobile has a higher standard of vacuum source in recent years. In order to provide a higher degree and faster speed for vacuum pump, the vacuum pumps directly connected with engine Alternator shaft are gradually replaced by the vacuum pumps directly connected with engine camshaft.The working principle, structure, vacuum degree and other performance indexes of the vacuum pump directly connected with camshaft are studied based on vehicle engine. The theoretical proof of the performance characteristics of the vacuum pump for the linear cavity pump cockles and the theoretical calculation of the performance of the vacuum pump are given.The designed air inlet gas guide groove is innovatively put forward and its parameters is optimized. The problem of the low intake efficiency of the engine vacuum pump in the intake chamber will be solved.A 3D model is established based on the results of theoretical calculation. The theoretical analysis is given for the main parts of a vacuum pump kinematics and mechanical properties. The finite element analysis is done by using Soildworks motion plug-in and the results of theoretical analysis is verified. The reference is provided for the design of the rationality of theoretical design for the design personnel.For the case of difficult to simulate the engine conditions for the experimental platform of common rotary vane vacuum pump, a new type of test platform of engine vacuum pump is designed and the preliminary design scheme is given.Using the existing numerical control processing equipment, the machining process specification of the vacuum pump shell is programmed, and the simulation of the machining process is carried out, and the vacuum pump shell is finally processed.Through the study of this subject, the feasible design method and the experiment scheme are provided for the further development and production of the rotary vane vacuum pump of automotive engines.
