Theory And Practice Of County Greenway System Construction

With the greenway successful used in the developed countries such as United States,Germany,and Japan,China also began to focus on the planning and construction of greenway.Greenways can connect parks,protected areas,scenic spots,urban and rural settlements,which will protect the natural,historical and cultural resources,and provide a communication space for urban and rural residents.Planning and construction of the greenway has become a new trend in integrated development of urban and rural areas.This paper discussed the concept and function of the county greenway,and took Quanjiao as a case study to describe the construction of county greenway system in detail,which provide a reference for greenway planning and construction of other cities.The main results of this study were as followings:(1)The greenway was divided into provincial greenway,county greenway and city greenway.The concept and role of the 3 levels greenway were explained in this paper.Greenway has different functions due to the locations and spatial scales.The main functions of the international greenways were for recreation health,ecological protection,flood control,historical and cultural protection and alternative transportation.Domestic greenway construction has fused environmental,sports,leisure,tourism and reconstruction of ecological security pattern and other features.According to the city’s own conditions,combined with its ecological resources and cultural elements to determine the function of greenway,optimization greenway line selection,and rational layout the greenway.(2)In order to strengthen the links between urban and rural,promote rural economic development,the county greenway was divided into 2 levels,the county greenway and city greenway.The influence factors of county greenway system construction includes the urban location,topography,green systems,transportation networks and development nodes,while the influence factors of city greenway system construction were the spatial structure,transportation,water systems,green space system,residents travel features and development nodes.(3)The analysis and evaluation of the greenway construction conditions were based on the investigation of Quanjiao land properties,natural and social economic development situation.Through selecting and stacking the constructing factors a suitable greenway network system was built.Spatial structure of county greenway form a "two rings two horizontal and one vertical".Two rings referred to a small cycle and a big cycle,the small one connects Wu Jingzi Memorial,Nanping Hill Forest Park,Xin xiang river landscape,Huanglishu reservoirs,Kamiyama Forest Park and other landscape nodes,while the big one linked some major towns like Shi pei,Huang Lishu,Xi wang and so on.The two horizontal lines referred to the western eco-tourism and Chu he landscape.The vertical line was an important cultural customs and economic lines which crossed the county,connected Chuzhou and chuhe landscape.The main skeleton of the urban greenway is made up of 7 parts,namely the 55 kilometers through the downtown section of the demonstration,the new Xianghe river greenway and old Xianghe river greenway,Tuqiao Reservoir scenic area,industrial riverfront greenway,Fengle Avenue greenway,and the central park greenway.
