Three-phase induction motor is widely applied in the industrial and agricultural production as a typical AC motor. The reasonable calculation method of the motor performance is very effective for the analysis of the working condition of the motor and the design of high quality of motor. With the wide application of induction motor and mass production, the inevitable problem is that there is a higher requirement for the performance of the motor, which directly caused a big influence on the service life and the dependability of the motor. So the study of the research on the performance of induction motor become a top priority of the key issues. Based on a large number of references, this paper takes an induction motor as an example, is calculated by the magnetic circuit calculation method, the numerical calculation method and the test method. The main contents are as follows:Firstly, the electromagnetic design programs of three phase induction motor are proposed which based on T type and ? type equivalent circuit, and the electromagnetic design formulas are deducted. A three phase induction motor whose power is 37 kW is taken as an example, and its electromagnetic design results are compared between the traditional method which is based on the(38) type equivalent circuit and the method which based on T type and ? type equivalent circuit in this paper. The difference between the electromagnetic design methods which based on T type, ? type and(38)type equivalent circuit are obtained.Secondly, a 37 kW three-phase induction motor is taken as an example. Then the two dimensional model and three dimensional model with rotor in a straight slot structure and rotor in a chute slot structure are set up, respectively. Under the rated condition and starting condition, the magnetic field distribution and the performance of this motor are calculated and compared.Finally, the experiment related to no-load, load and locked rotor is conduced by motor testing platform. Then the motor equivalent circuit parameters and characteristic curve are obtained, employing the direct correction coffieient method to treat the experimentresults of properity. The motor equivalent circuit parameters and the characteristic curves of the motor are obtained, in addition, the simulation results are compared with the simulation results.
